The existing structure is sound. The building along Fieldhouse Drive is suitable for office space. The two wings that housed recreational venues is easily adaptable. They are wide open and can be subdivided.
The new structure will provide additional space for needed labs and specialized needs.
They aren’t trying to reopen the pool. Something like that would be costly and with UREC and the Natatorium it’s not needed.
Look at the Gym Armory. HPL can be preserved too and be a modern plus for not an extraordinary amount of money.

I hope it turns out to be a great facility. It’s always good to see LSU keeping their buildings updated. For the longest time LSU didn’t do the best job of maintaining their facilities.
