A few from the old "Andy Griffith Show".
Ernest T. Bass
Briscoe Darling
Gomer Pyle
Alan Brady, Carl Reiner's character on "The Dick Van Dyke Show"
Frank Fontaine playing Craze Guggenheim with Joe The Bartender on the old "Jackie Gleason Show".
Foster Brooks, the perpetual drunk character on lots of variety shows in the 60's and 70's.

Speaking of which... Rafe Holister was a possible stock player on Mayberry, along with Goober, Gomer, Floyd, etc.
But the actor considered himself a stage and lounge singer and wasn't interested in a steady acting gig.
