I worked for a tree company doing sales at one point and they hauled all the wood away and had a giant burn pile. Not sure if anyone ever asked to keep it but I'm sure they'd let you keep some if you asked.
Then you might be left with 500lb pieces of trunk in your yard, because I dont know if they would cut it up to your preferred size
