I'm 5'10" on a good day and my toddler's front facing seat was cramped behind me in a 2018 double cab.

This might be a problem for me. Maybe the Colorado or Frontier would be a better option. I'd rather not go full sized because I just don't need to tow more than about 5,000 lbs and I like the extra garage space.

But on the flip side, a semi-cramped interior will prevent my car from being the default "family car".

If I get a Colorado, I'm getting the turbodiesel w/ the 6 speed. For the Toyota and Nissan, I'd get the gas V6. The Ford Ranger doesn't really appeal to me.

As long as I have kids in car seats, I would not consider anything other than a fullsize with a legit crew cab. Besides the leg room for both rows, the middle seat in the back is still usable for an adult in a full size. My f150 is very comfortable even with both kids in their seats.
