US Amateur-Pinehurst

The wife and I went to the US Amateur today at Pinehurst. Here are a couple of my thoughts on the day:
-Pinehurst No.2 is phenomenal. It does not have the views of say Pebble Beach, but what a golf course. It was immaculate.
-It was the semi's, so 4 guys played with the 2 youngest just out of HS. One Georgia bulldog, another one headed Georgia this fall, a FSU Nole, and Danny Lee-who has decided if he will attend college or not.
-All 4 hit the ball a ton.
-Danny Lee, No.1 ranked amateur should win it tomorrow. Watch for this guy in coming years.
-The crowned greens were the only thing that showed me these guys were not pros- a lot of missed putts.
The tickets were only $15 for the day, but a USGA member gave us a couple of free passes- Great free entertainment.

I am dying to go to Pinehurst one day. It's on my short list of things to do before I kick it.

I live an hour away, but the rates are insane.
At the cheapest time of the year, you still have to stay overnight double occupany for the public to play No.2. The cost is about $465 per person for one round at No.2, dinner, breakfast, and one night stay at the inn.
I will have to suck it up and do it before I move at some point.

One of the guys that played today was from Baton Rouge. Patrick Reed I think is his name.

Yep, Patrick Reed he went to UHigh before moving to Augusta and finished HS online. He was originally from San Antonio, I think. He signed with UGA.

Pinehurst is phenominal. I played college golf, but never had the opportunity to play Pinehurst. It is one of the top courses on my list. Good luck to the guys playing. I tried making it on some mini tours and it is a tough living without sponsors

Lee was 11 under for 32 holes today. This kid has a ton of potential.
Youngest ever to win the US Amateur surpassing Tiger.

How far did Reed make it in the tourney? Isn't he only 16?
