Death penalty cases do not land on the desk of the President. Other than a pardon ....what input did Trump have?
We're talking about federal executions. Trump could sign an EO pausing executions at the federal level. I'm not saying he should, just that he has the authority to do so. He's the man at the top when it comes to the DOJ. But he can't do anything about state executions.
