Question about Ohio State’s defense

It seems to most that Ohio State’s front 7 is elite, and if there is a weakness on this defense, it is the secondary.

What about when Ohio State goes into Nickel? Who is their NB, and is he a drop-off from whomever he replaces from the base package?

Will OSU even be expected to run a lot of Nickel against Alabama’s base package (whether Waddle or not, if in a 3 WR set)?

We run a lot of single high safety with three CBs, so when we go 5 DBs we add a safety/corner hybrid.

Will the Dline be available for the game?

We'll know officially about two hours before the game.

Werner is a very good LB. Borland tore his achilles about 2 years ago and definitely lost speed after then injury.

In a base set probably not on 1st and 2nd down. OSU will try and do what Bama will try and do; stop the run first. These teams are trench teams who think they will win the LOS.

If it's a 3rd and 6+ then you'll see some different stuff scheme wise to generate pressure or keep guys in front etc.

They both played really well vs Clemson.

Werner has been great all year.

The thing with Borland is his game is built around quick diagnosis of the play and positioning. He looks really bad a few plays a game where he doesn't have the speed to make up for a bad read and looks slow chasing down a RB. But for the vast majority, he is in a great position and is solid. I feel like Harris is a better matchup for him than Etienne, but Bama's OL is vastly superior to Clemson.
