Yes. Things got heated in the 60s with the Vietnam protests and assassinations, but people were mostly trusting of the media and the political rhetoric, for the most part, was not as divisive.
The major difference is that now you cannot trust the media or the politicians.

There lies my issue. If there’s going to be an uprising, it’s the politicians that need to be taken out. They’re supposed to be there to represent the people. Instead, over the years, they’ve learned how to manipulate government language to financially benefit from their job. It’s all a game and they’ve mastered it all.
As for the media, they learned they can get rich by shock value so they started reporting opinions by people who claim are “experts.” When in reality, they’re an American just like you and I. But somehow, they’re given the power to create a narrative that’s divided this country and are half responsible for what’s going on today.
The US broke away from England because the monarchy became too powerful. We wanted to break free from tyranny and iron rule. Sadly, our own government is trying to turn into the same thing.
Only issue is that I don’t see how a civil war everyone keeps saying is going to happen. Who vs who? Where? How? Where does the American military fit in if it’s civilians vs civilians.
