No - we don’t write letters. I remember when I was 8 - I left Santa a Hershey bar with almonds and a Coke. There was a note that said ‘Thanks’ but it was in my mom’s handwriting - I was devastated
So my husband and I came up with a plan my any years ago - the kids write a letter to Santa the day after thanksgiving. Then on Christmas Eve they leave out cookies and milk (although this year the 9 year old and I made cake balls and egg nog to leave out) Santa leaves unwrapped presents bc he does not have time to wrap
We put the kids to bed at 10 then the husband and I get up around 2 am and put out the stuff they wrote to Santa for. The wrapped stuff is from the family. It works bc the 10, 9 and 5 year old still believe. The teens help out and play along. Of course we have to eat and drink the stuff lol
