That bridge had nothing to do with BR, or its needs though. It was allotted and promised to the farmers and what not in that area for a long time prior to construction even commencing.

St. Francisville and New Roads consistently pushed for a new bridge in that area for about 40 years.

You still have some assholes in Ibberville parish that want the new bridge in one particular spot where it would be far less useful. No consensus yet.
