Got the Clarion next door for $99 less a night...

Booked it last week. I looked around and not much to chose from (Thur-Sun) within any kind of close distance to the stadium. I couldn't find anything near the stadium and I don't think there was much in terms of entertainment around the stadium.
The Courtyard looks close the bars/restaurant area.
I see the note about the Clarion... if it was just guys going, that would have worked - we don't spend much time in the room.
However, I was prohibited by the wives from booking anything less that Courtyard type hotels from our experience at the Ole Miss/LSU game two years ago - we (4 couples) stayed at the downtown Best Western (Memphis) across from the Peabody and it was terrible.
When you got off the elevator there were no lights in the hall - total darkness. Rooms were dirty/worn, our rooms on the back hall got to enjoy the trash trucks emptying dumpsters at 4am - woke us up even after drinking until 2am. If I screw up again, they will plan this stuff.

It is only 1.7 miles from the stadium. About a 30 minute walk. Probably not bad unless it is raining.

Marriott wanted $209/night-hate to pay that much for a Courtyard property. Just shy of having enough rewards points to do it for free (they wanted double points because of high bookings that weekend). Thanks for scheduling the State Fair same time as a home game, Cocks.

OK, hate to bump my own post, but getting a bit confused. Is the Marriott that is part of the TAF package an actual Marriott or a Courtyard. I also heard from another Dad at my son's FB practice that there is an area in Columbia with a lot of bars and resturants concentrated together that would be a good place to hang out and stay. Sooooo confused!
