I'll come to the OP defense. In 2016 I needed a car quick, and I leased a RAV4, because they were super cheap with almost no money down. Family drove that for a few months so I could take time to find what I wanted and when prices went down to more reasonable amounts.

In the end, my 16 year old drove that leased Rav4 for 33 of the 36 months. Other than a hit and run from a drunk driver that was not their fault, had barely a scratch on it when we turned it in. I know full and well, it was a HUGE risk but in my case, it worked out fine. It's more about who your kid is and how much fear you have instilled into them by when they start driving.

But yea....insurance for teenagers is ridiculous
