Sadly, I think the best we can hope for is a grandfather clause. I have seen the number tossed around a few times stating 16 million ARs in the US, give or take; and approx 400 million privately owned firearms of all types. That's a lot of potentially VERY unhappy people (although it didn't seem to make a difference in this election).
Ammo becomes a viable issue... for most of what I own, online is just a cheaper option (and perhaps better choice of brand).
But I do have at least one that's a specialty/boutique round. I suppose I could reload (which I'm now considering), but the issue of components remains as big as the issue of loaded ammo.
