It's weird but when I was a kid, Ricky Henderson was a god.

My first game ever was in Oakland.

Rickey led off with a homerun and stole a bag that game. Made my day. I had several Rickey posters on my wall.

Eta... whole game made my day. Everyone noteworthy made plays. Dave Stewart started. Bad arse day I'll never forget.

While playing for Seattle in 2000, Henderson was said to have commented on first baseman John Olerud's practice of wearing a batting helmet while playing defense, noting that a former teammate in Toronto did the same thing. Olerud was reported to have replied, "That was me." The two men had been together the previous season with the 1999 Mets, as well as with the 1993 World Champion Blue Jays.

Everyone is trying to smash a home run, so whats the point of going from 1st to 2nd base when the batter is going for the fences and not a base hit?
