Is it the current home run era that we’re in and the pitchers all throwing 98 plus MPH the reason why this stat seems so amazing?
It was ridiculous for all modern eras.
The three players on the Top 10 list of single-season stolen bases that actually played in the 20th century were Lou Brock, Vince Coleman and Rickey.
So it's Rickey, Lou Brock and Vince Coleman...that's it...for the entire 20th century. And Rickey beat Lou Brock by 12 and Coleman by 20.

What is really weird is there is a Billy Hamilton that is really fast but didn't turn out to be all that good (300+ SBs but not much else) and there was a Billy Hamilton from the 1890's that stole 914, batted .344, and is in the HOF.
The odd thing is they don't look alike at all.
