Have been seeing more and more of them lately. Always found the concept pretty interesting.

Any idea on pricing per square ft vs traditional home?

You can buy a General Steel Building for pennies. Or an American Steel Building made in Tennessee. I've inspected homes you would swear were block or frame homes, just to have the owner tell me it was a Steel Building then show me the columns and panels in exposed areas. One was a two million dollar house. Don't have to worry about termites and the majority of the buildings have wind uplift testing to the rate of 150 mph.

I was put in charge of rebuilding Beckwith Electric in Largo, FL using a Butler building. Because it was rated for 150 mph. In the Board meeting, the son asked "So this means the building will now withstand a Cat 5 hurricane?" "Come on, you're an Engineer, do you really believe the building would survive a Cat 5 if one window or door were blown in during the worst part of the storm? Once the penetration occurs ....game over."

Building one now. Building, slab, insulation, and roof is roughly 24ft. Finishing inside is roughly 35ft.
