Last week was more open ended and happy. If they were gonna go with the Cain and Abel story for Sam and Dean like was intended in the first five seasons one of them should have killed the other one or at least have sacrifice himself to save the world. Dean's death meant nothing and it was to a nameless, faceless monster.

A few questions this finale brought up, if Jack remade the universe why did he bring back monsters? Did Sam continue hunting or train those two boys to hunt? It looks like they were going with Sam and Dean's backstory with Dean standing in for Mary and Sam standing in for John and the two boys being the new Sam and Dean.

I think you can really harken back to 5x22 - Swan Song,

quote:

Castiel: You got what you asked for, Dean. No paradise, no hell, just more of the same. I mean it, Dean. What would you rather have: peace... or freedom?

And the endings (and the bitching from some of the fans) can be summed up with a quote from Chuck in that same episode:
quote:

“Endings are hard. Any chapped-arse monkey with a keyboard can poop out a beginning, but endings are impossible. You try to tie up every loose end, but you never can. The fans are always gonna bitch. There's always gonna be holes. And since it's the ending, it's all supposed to add up to something. I'm telling you, they're a raging pain in the arse.”

It wasn't half bad. I assume it would have been BIGGER with more people if it was any year but 2020 but hey, it wasn't as bad as some notable finales.
