Aerator shoes?

I know it wouldn’t replace a real core aeration but would wearing these while I walk the whole yard have any positive benefits or am I just wasting my money?

I have heard the same. Waste of money. The thought is that instead of taking out a plug it's just compressing the ground around each tiny hole that is made.
