Where is LSU gonna find $5,000,000 to fire Pelini right now ? The football program just lost $80,000,000 due to COVID.

LSU will come up with 7M. Private donors plus the opportunity cost of not firing him.

I think that was the number if a season wasn't played at all. Having limited fans at the game didn't cost the football program, by itself, $80MM. Regardless, if the defense continues down its current path, how do yo think support will be next year and the years that follow? Will it be more or less hurtful than the money it would cost to buy Pelini out at the end of the year ($4.5MM). With the TV contracts we have now, $4.5MM isn't as much as it used to be. It also isn't a number that would be owed to Pelini immediately. Those buyouts are almost always paid out over time. For instance, when we fired Canada, we paid him 1 million up front and the remaining $700k over 20 months. And when it comes down to it, this decision would be up to the boosters. If they want to pony up the buyout money, they will.

Ed will need to step up and take a pay cut if he’s gonna fire Bo.
