They're simulated bombing/target/strafing runs on a large urban installation you moron.

They do this with plants as well. It's called training. And yes, most airplanes kind of fly in a straight line. It's kind of how they get from point A to point B in a timely manner.

You gonna be ok?

Lets not act like this is a difficult task. If anything, the timing of the flight to the anthem is the most difficult. They could benefit just as much flying in any random location, but fans like to see it, and its a nice tribute.

That’s why they don’t play ball at the Polo Grounds anymore. A pilot trainee accidentally dropped a bomb on it during a training flyover. And 37 NASCAR fans were killed in an A-10 strafing accident in a 1993 flyover at Bristol Motor Speedway.
