I guess I look at it from the standpoint of:

1) If red states that we expect are "safe" aren't really "safe," then he isn't going to win the battleground Midwest states and it won't matter because he loses.

2) If he easily wins Florida, then he's going to hold every state he already held, with the only exceptions being those upper Midwest states, and he only needs to take one of them to get over the finish line.
