Same. That was tough as hell to listen to.
He was taking part in a drug trial. It’s immunotherapy, basically getting your immune system to fight the cancer. Cancer has a bunch of mechanisms that makes it harder for your body to find it and kill it. It masquerade as your own tissues, for example, so your body doesn’t recognize it as foreign. In the last update on the go fund me they said he has responded very well to the immunotherapy and it was only the metastatic tumors in his liver that were left, which is pretty insane considering he had stage 4 colon cancer. Immunotherapy is the future of cancer treatment. And yet, it is still the emperor of all maladies.
