Auburn is on a hybrid schedule where students learn in school some days and remotely the other days. Parents in New York state, however, are allowed to choose if they want their children to learn all remotely.

It seems like when state allowed this they should have addressed this type of situation in districts pushing hybrid.

But...

Robert Lowry, New York State Council of School Superintendents, said residency questions can be “murky," especially with the pandemic and remote learning thrown in.

Doubtful Airbnb renter is using house to place students in district, but Renting out can be bringing in additional students without any additional revenue from the house. If other family using rental agreement or utilities to prove they they are within boundaries for school I can see this being an issue with regular attendance and even hybrid. Still owning house doesn’t mean dad hasn’t established residence elsewhere. Choosing 100% remote learning seems a little less of an issue though than going to school with hybrid schedule, but it’s obvious this is not first time this has come up with dad telling them about staying for a wedding for a month after a vacation. With district hybrid but having to allow state’s rule about 100% remote learning I wonder if they are still allowed to have some time to see kids after hours for extra help when needed and to turn in assignments that rest of kids do when in class which aren’t happening.
