I prefer boxing but don't dislike mma. Both have their boring aspects. The thing I always come back to is this, most universally lauded, exciting mma fights are when 2 guys(or gals) stand toe to toe and throw punches and kicks. Save for the kicks, it might as well be boxing. Even ardent mma fans boo and jeer during pure mat fights because it's boring. They prefer the boxing aspect more than the wrestling but are first to defend the "skill" of mma fighters. They just don't want to actually watch it.

I disagree with ardent mma fans booing fights on the ground. Yeah sometimes ground fights suck. Same as standing fights. Lewis and Ngannou 2 of the best knockout artists in mma had a terrible standup fight. Mma is multifaceted and I enjoy every aspect of it. Coming up we have gaethje vs khabib. Khabib does most of his damage on the ground and gaethje likes to stand up. Gaethje is a great wrestler but doesn’t use his wrestling so the interesting thing about that match will be can gaethje stay standing and put it on khabib vs can khabib take him down and smash him like he has everyone else. Anyway, boxing sucks.
