its stupid. im 6'1' and the one time i was in the best shape of my life i was at 185 and was trying to win the state time trial championship and i fasted for like 3 days to try & lose a couple extra pounds and i couldn't drop an ounce.
like you i looked gaunt and undernourished but according to the BMI index i was still bordering on the 'overweight' section. never got into the 'normal' range despite training for hours a day and racing every other weekend.
eta i'm well over 200 now but i'm not racing and i can eat like a normal person and enjoy life even with a bit of a dad bod.
