Seems like they should have found more ways to get Gilbert matched up with LBs or Safeties and get him quick throws in space.

They have to find a way to do the same with John Emery too. The one time Brennan had Emery open in space, he threw a poor pass that was behind him. With a good throw out in front of him, Emery had the opportunity for a big gainer.

I thought that kid Brennan was ready after serving 4 years as a understudy basically, but he still isn't ready. That was evident yesterday as he struggled the whole game, I thought I saw signs were he had caught on last season when he played in some blow out games, but I was wrong. He clearly is still learning how to be a QB and is not close to being another Joe Burrow. He holds the ball too long as well as lacks pocket awareness, he doesn't throw a WR open, you have to throw passes that they can go and get. He doesn't see the field good, he clearly doesn't go through his progressions quick enough because he locks on to the primary receiver waay too long. It's just gonna be a long season, hate to say it, but this kid will be learning all season.

That play was on Emery, not Brennan. That is a zone defense. Emery should have settled into the opening, meaning basically done a hook.

This is what happens when you have a bunch of guys now playing that watched others do the job last year. They were not ready to be THE guys just yet.

My frustration was the countless times Brennan pumped, but held up. This seems to me that he saw a things a touch too late, or he did not trust the window he had to throw into. What needs to happen is that Brennan needs to be told to let it fly. While he will win some, this will lead to some picks. This learning curve needs to happen against Mizzouri, not against florida.
