A lot of people die every day. Everybody dies, but not everybody is killed.
The communists KILLED them. Not on accident. Not even “allowed them to starve” kind of killed, but “made them starve or else they got tortured then shot” kind of killed.

And to top it off refused any help from the west . We offered to send plenty of food but Moscow refused it.
