Finished 7-5 but with a loss to Louisville in the Fiesta Bowl.

The game that really started to put our program on the map. Thanks to the Pipe!

Louisville was no joke that year. They were still a mid-major in FB terms. They were an Independent, and played a relatively easy schedule. I see now...they tied San Jose State in the opener. That SJSU team finished 9-2-1. The losses were by 3 to Washington and 1 to Cal. That’s damn good for that programs.

The Cards also lone loss was to Southern Miss. The same USM squad mentioned earlier for knocking off Alabama and Auburn. Let’s take a look at Southern Miss aside from Coach Hallman and Brett Favre.

Notable wins:
@ #13 Alabama 17-14
V Louisville 25-13
@ #15 Auburn 13-12

Losses:
@ Georgia 18-17
@ Mississippi St 13-10
@ VaTech 20-16
V #23 NC State 31-27 (All-American Bowl)

Three big wins. 4 losses by a combined 12 points. All of those games on the road, and all against P5 schools. Impressive.
