Any South Georgia Dove Hunters on OB

So last year, I drove all over North Florida trying to get my boykin on some doves and only got one shot all season. Im in Jacksonville and the closest public planted dove field (in Florida) is 2.5 hours away.
So this year, I've been looking for a better spot and discovered GA has a number of public planted dove fields much closer to me.
I've never hunted Georgia before, but am excited about this new discovery.
Before I go buy an out of state license, I was wondering if any one has any experience with any of these South GA public dove fields?
Has anyone had any luck so far this season?
Anything else I should know?
I called the DNR Regional Office to pose these questions, but the phone was disconnected, just fyi

I'd just browse Facebook for South Georgia pay shoots. Usually find a season stand for 2-$300. I've got some second season fields (sesame) because it's too damn hot to shoot first season. Let me know if I can help you. I'm in Johnson County,Georgia.

This is the way to go but look at the field really close...lots of those fields are baited and its the person with the gun and the license who takes to ticket not the bastard who slung cracked corn all over the place. If there is an inordinate amount of cracked corn in a mowed pasture and swarms of dove proceed with caution....
I can't speak of public land hunts in south georgia but there are some decent ones in north georgia. Berry College used to be really good and for some reason never overly crowded. Bartow WMA was also good. If the GA DNR can prepare a field properly in North Georgia odds are good they can do so in south georgia and there will be way more birds....

This is a very good point. As an out of state hunter, I dont expect any sort of lenancy from the game warden.

I definitely understand that. It was 95 degrees out at 430 pm opening day last year. Unlike Georgia, Florida only lets you hunt in the afternoon for first phase, which makes it that much more difficult.

Man I haven't seen that listing in GON in YEARS! I can remember getting that issue back in the day and trying to figure out how to get enough cash together to buy enough gas to scout the shoots listed that year properly LOL....man that brings back some GOOD memories....me and a buddy or two would strategize and make plans and drive many a mile....youd've thought we were planning the D day invasion....the scouting was generally more enjoyable than the shooting but we didn't even realize it at the time....

You should be able to find one in the Ware County or Brantley County area. I don't have book Face but I'll check around for you.

Truth is I am from Florida, but went to LSU. I made sure the guy I just spoke with knew I'm from the panhandle tho so he knew this isnt my first rodeo and wouldn't judge me in with the south florida yuppies. Will probably just try to keep my mouth shut and my eyes on the skies once I cross the state line.

I originally had a spot lined up on my friend's land west of tallahassee, but covid hit and we never got around to clearing the field. I still might try to do this next year to have a closer spot. Ill lyk if I do, youve definitely earned a free shoot if you want it
