Eiyuden Chronicles
Go figure, it’s another Konami property. Some interesting tidbits to note though.
- Motoi Sakuraba is the composer. Most famously known for the Dark Souls games if you don’t know any of his other works. The soundtrack will be fully orchestrated.
- The game has 2 development studios and a publisher behind it. It’s unfortunately only about a 1/5 of the way through development I’d guess since the release date is October 2022.
- The game will follow a similar style as Octopath, with a sort of pixel 2D character/3D environment that looks really good if you watch the video.
I’d say out of all the strict “spiritual successor” kickstarters run, this one is probably been put together the best. Sea of Stars, which was a sequel to The Messenger (a retro Ninja Gaiden-esque game) was personally one of the best I’ve ever seen in terms of strategy, support and overall execution. But I’d at least just give it a look if you’re a JRPG fan.

Huge fan of the original Suikoden. Not so much the sequels to it. I'll be keeping an eye on this one.
