Government has improved greatly over the last ten years. However, many of these places will unfortunately shut down in the near future. I cannot see red stick social making it. Great concept with bad luck. Elsie’s will be fine. Radio bar will likely survive. Superior has been there forever and will survive. A few other places may make it. I’m not sure changing the structure of the street will have its desired affect.
This guy gets it.

Does anybody remember Catfish Town in the mid-1980's? Fun place with lots of restaurants, shops, and bars. It didn't last too long, either.
I was thinking about the whole Catfish Town concept in relation to the Government Street "vision" as well. It is a perfect analogy. Very similar hype for both.
This type of business model will not work in this city. Exceptional businesses with exceptional products will survive and thrive, however.
Prove me wrong.

the death blow for catfish town was other bars complaining that they could not sell alcohol to go. Catfish town had a food hall with entertainment and seating outside. When the city ruled "no alcohol outside" it died overnight.
