I am the complete opposite. I will reply to emails faster than any other method, hands down.

My job is such that I'll often be working on something for 4-5 hours straight, sometimes for days. I'll get interrupted by meetings, conference calls etc throughout the day though.

Email is just something that I'll try to get to eventually.

Sometimes, when I have too many unread emails over a week or so, I'll just select them all and select marked as read. If it's more than a day old I've probably already talked to them about it or it's not that important.

See, this is my thing. It almost feels entitled for someone to "skip the line" by calling me instead of emailing with what they need. If I stopped every time someone wanted something, I'd never finish anything. I know because my poor boss can't ever work on something without being interrupted 900 times due to calls At least with emails, I can check them when I arrange time for it throughout the day vs. being forced to answer in the middle of something like you do with a call.

Fortunately, I've "trained" most clients to always email. I live 2 hours ahead of them, which most have figured out. The way my job works, I have to really dig deep for whatever someone is calling me about 90% of the time.. so its not something I would do on the phone to begin with. Better to give me the info up front in typed format and let me gather it together for you.
