I just picked up the mesa in 28 nosler. If that round is something youre looking at, get the lipseys distributor special. Its an 8 twist which allows the 195gr berger elite hunters to properly stabilize. The rest are 9 twists. The main think i dont care for (which is purely personal taste thing) is I wish it had a shorter bolt throw like tikka or browning. Its annoying to have a 90 bolt throw. I wish Tikka made some more exotic calibers. Maybe soon. That tikka Veil wideland is calling me lol.
As a reloader, I was torn between a few different calibers. I have a creedmoor, 270, 243. So I came down to the 28 nosler, 300 prc, 6.5 prc
The 6.5 prc was pretty quickly dismissed due to only gaining a 150-200 fps over my creedmoor.
The real rub was 28 nosler or 300 prc. Both are very enticing balistically. The main reason why I went with the 28 nosler is that with the grain weights of 140-195, I felt it would be much more versatile for my needs than the 300 prc. I can load it down with lighter bullets for deer, yotes, hogs, whatever and load up to tackle elk or moose. Balistically its a beast. The prc really shines with 225 gr and higher weights that are high BC (bergers and eldx) and at long ranges of 600 plus yards. Up until that point there isnt much difference in the 300 prc and win mag. I still would the prc over win mag if I was buying today.
