quote:This isn't an indictment on the Hammond Police Department being racist. This is an indictment on the fact that it's a bunch of lowlife dumb meatheads who couldn't get a job doing anything else, so they sign up to be a cop so they can make $35,000 a year. They don't know shite about being professional. All they know is to be some redneck barney fife. I've had my own personal run ins in the past with the Hammond Police Department and an off duty cop. I'm speaking from personal experience. They are the epitome of abuse of power when it comes to being a cop.
I saw the report last night and I thought the attorney handled the matter exceptionally well. Even though the video shows white officers hitting a black suspect, he never suggested the matter was racially motivated. He also mentioned how "backing the blue" sometimes means supporting police officers who are trying to get rid of bad officers. "Bad officers" doesn't always mean "racist officers". Like in any profession, sometimes you just have a-holes who shouldn't be in their position. In this case, it was the PD that leaked the tape in effort to clean up the department. That speaks volumes.
quote:Agreed. I've seen cops who would know how to handle a situation like that and have that suspect in his place where he needed to be without having to punch and kick him. Professionals. These clowns are the opposite of that.
