Same happened in Brandon, MS recently.
The statue there is supposed to be the spot where local Confederates laid down weapons following the surrender. Edit: Sorry, it’s supposed to be the spot where arms were stacked during the siege of Brandon. Makes no sense why that should be removed.
Anyway, locals successfully defended it.
It’s called the Rankin County Confederate Monument.
