For something you can just pick up in a grocery store ... Lavazza

It's Italian roasted ... very, very good. A couple of bucks more than Community, but very good. It was the coffee that was served at El Bulli ... which was considered the best restaurant in the world until the chef got bored and closed it. (If that even matters to you)

Other than that, you might want to see if there are any local roasters you could try. There are a few in the NOLA/BRLA/MS Gulf Coast area ... but I'm not familiar with any "up north."

We like Lavazza. They have different blends which vary in darkness/strength (or intensity, as they call it). Our favorite Lavazza is their Classico ground blend. We also like (a bit better) one of their Italian competitors, Illy (medium roast for drip).
