re: Put the old boy down today.

3 weeks ago I had to put down my faithful friend of 17 years. Its the little things you notice that mess with you. Like seeing his favorite treats in the store and realizing there is no reason to buy them now. He had the same lazy boy recliner his whole life that had to be in position so he could guard us by seeing all the doors... I may never part with that old nasty thing now.

As a English Springer he would hunt or track anything. I swear he was better at retrieving ducks than a lab. He would catch and gently place LIVE and UNHARMED woodcock in my hands. If I dropped a fish he would gently put it in the live well. If I needed him to follow a blood trail he never failed to show me every drop of blood.
