In 97 Belle provided a 116 OPS+ for the White Sox, Giles provided a 112 for the Indians that was not the issue....
While as Lofton was worth a 119+ OPS with the Braves and Grissom a 83 OPS+ with the Indians.
However David Justice and Jim Thome more than made up for the difference as the players they replaced they destroyed. Thome 156 OPS+ vs Franco 124 OPS+ and Justice 158 OPS+ vs Murray 83 OPS+
So offensively they were better in 1997 than in 1996 and 1995

Yep, Mike Mussina wasn't scared of them though lol, luckily the tribe somehow beat the orioles twice in the 1997 alcs when he pitched. Like Maddux dominating a stacked marlins team I'm the nlcs but going 0-2
