I am interested in re shafting my irons for a heavier, stiffer shaft. I currently have KBS Tour90 regular flex. Instead of spending money on getting fit, I would feel comfortable getting some reccomendations from Mizuno Optimzer tool and finding a set on ebay. Has anyone ever seen one of these tools around Baton Rouge or even south LA?

Edwin Watts has had one for years. It has come along quite a bit and is a very interesting and useful tool.

I went with the 3rd option if gave me. For me it felt the best, has a little snap at the bottom. So far so good

Where did you use one and how long ago was it? I’m wondering if I go to Edwin Watts will they pull something out of the closet that hasn’t been updated in 2 years.

This was at Watts about 5 weeks ago.
Project X LZ 6.0
TT AMT Tour White stiff
KBS Tour FLT 120 stiff.

I don’t like KBS shafts but the Tour FLT felt great. I liked the weight, and the snap at the bottom.

It also suggest I be 1 up. So I did that as well. First round with the new irons was 73 practice round at ellendale, second was 69. So far so good.

Also I would ask for a print out of the suggestions or email to you. And I’d even bring some paper and write down what it suggests. I did that and called each company and talked to their tech reps on the phone. They’ll tell you more about the shafts makeup and capabilities.

Thanks for the details.

Also, I may not have the opportunity to try the shafts it recommends but I am ok with just trying something I find on eBay. Since I cant feel them all, what is your driver swing speed such that a KBS 120 felt good? I always figured 120 would be a little heavy for me since I swing driver 100-105.

Editing since I now see you said it was at EW

109 stock to 112 rip city lol. I’m in that gray area of Stiff and Xflex. But going with the theory that we should swing the lowest flex that we can control, I have a Stiff in my driver. The only other KBS shaft that I love is the $Taper Lite. Srixon didn’t offer it. Had they offered it I would have probably gone with that. The optimizer is cool and has been refined over the years but in the end, I went with what felt better. Project X LZ I couldn’t feel the head at the top of the swing. Also, I would look at the specs and talk to the companies tech reps. The Tour FLT 120’s play closer to the upper teens like 118 once installed. You can still feel the head weight at the top of the swing which is absolutely paramount for me when I buy a club.
