Does anyone, not in the oil/coal industry, not want to see the end of fossil fuels? Seriously, if there were an alternative (there isn't....but there wasn't an alternative to whale oil at one time) who would advocate for the continued use of fossil fuels, outside the industry??? Wanting to end the use of outhouses didn't mean a person was advocating for the outlawing of outhouses until such time as a better alternative was readily available.

I welcome alternative energy especially if it can be done safe and relatively cheap. The problem with green energy isn't the goal.... its they have no realistic goal to achieve.

Yes, over the next few hundred years humans will have to find better solutions but its not something we need to pay billionaires to subsidize products which are basically fraudulent.

Its about tax credit, giving money to people, etc.

Its a fraud.

The electric generating industry is one of, if not the most, regulated industries in the country, the government has been making it almost impossible to generate electricity for years now. Coal and natural gas are 2 of America’s most abundant natural resources and for years they were the only resources we had that could compete with Arab oil.
Foreign countries that are not allies of the US have recognized that and have funded much of the opposition that has been targeted toward the US power companies. When all the coal burners are gone, which will be soon, they’ll start closing all the older gas burners amd when they’re all closed, they’ll start targeting the newer, clean burning gas fired combined cycle plants until every supply of electrify that uses America’s most abundant fuel sources are gone.
When the happens, the wind and solar which depends on wind to blow and the sun to shine, will be the largest suppliers but have proven for years that they must have backup supply from power plants to take up the load when the wind isn’t blowing and sun isn’t shining. Those backup plants will at that time be closed. How many of us like it when it’s 98 outside and the A/C goes off due to a power outage? We need to learn to like it because that is where we are headed without sustainable constant electric supply.

The danger inherent in our politicization of this issue is that someone somewhere in the world is, as we speak, working on the solution, probably with unlimited state sponsored funding freed up by our policing of the world, which will find the correct formula and they will be at an extreme competitive advantage in the race to lower energy costs...real and true energy costs, not simply the price at the pump and the price per KWh.

Both sides of the issue are crippling our collective effort...the fossil fuel lobby is adamant it ain't happening, the green energy environmental lobby is adamant that the only way to achieve any kind of change is to make fossil fuels to expensive to use without a viable alternative in place. Meanwhile we provide global security and safe markets for goods manufactured around the world, not to mention safe passage of those goods, and our competitors are working day and night solving the cheaper energy equation with funding they are free to use for such research because they don't foot the bill for their own security alone and without you and subsidizing those costs for them.

When we decided to go to the moon in this country we did it...man kind had only dreamt of doing it a few years until we actually did it....we have the resources and the people in this country who can solve the energy question but we allow politics and special interests hobble our success. Meanwhile our competitors, subsidized by you and I, are not above strapping scientists and engineers to the yoke and not releasing them until the solve the equation and starving entire portions of their citizenry in the process, spending money on gaining a competitive advantage. If we do not stand together we will surely hand separately....metaphorically speaking of course.
