The author of that article is a moron.
The little figure on the street crossing light is white, not White. He is white because the color is highly-visible and because a significant percentage of the population is color-blind (medically, if not ideologically).

Sorry, but there are intersections and crossings in Chicago and NYC that need a black figure with a gun in his hands.
