A week after my first open heart surgery to install an artificial mitral valve, I began hemorrhaging internally due to the dosage of Coumadin I was being given was too high. Long story short, I bled out into my chest cavity until my lungs could not expand and my heart could not beat. I coded sometime around 6-9 that evening, they rushed me from my CICU room back to surgery, opened my chest back up, reinserted drain tubes and gave me enough blood transfusions to get me going again. That was Nov. 21, 2016 and it was not a fun day.
