I have played with plenty of guys like this & after doing for so long they really don’t know they are doing it. It’s like it’s part of their preshot routine.
If the guy is as good of a guy as you say off the course, have the discussion away from the course. But be honest and fair with him. If he can’t handle the truth in a mature adult conversation, then he probably doesn’t deserve to be a part of your group.

What someone is like when they are alone is how a person truly is. The guy cheats because he is a cheater especially if he knows better. I’d be willing to bet he did some shady shite in his business he owned too.
If he refuses to stop then either you guys live with it or get rid of him from the group. Neither is a good option imo.
