Here's the issue.... if we trickle through this virus with everything shut down then it will just take longer for it to spread. The bottom line is that it is not going away magically. It will run through the population regardless. Let's get this shite over with now.

What I suspect happens:

we see a gradual reopening of daily life the rest of this year, but things such as sports, plays, movie theaters will be the last to return.

I'll be the first to say, I WANT there to be football this fall. And tailgating. And movies. And concerts.
I just don't see that happening. It would be totally opposite everything JBE has done thus far, and now there's a lot of backtracking from previously forward-thinking governors.
I think we're going to see the rise in cases that everyone with sense predicted, and they're going to clench up and refuse to open anything more. They're all scared of the repercussions if they open up too much, and things get bad. It's going to be a lot easier (for them) to piecemeal it out a bit at a time.
