It’s probably his DOC number. Once in the system, it stays the same.

Suspended sentencing, or good time behavior. State crimes you only serve 40% (varies by state) for non violent offenses unless aggravated crime.

So if you’re sentenced to 5 years, court may suspend 4 years of it which would mean 1 yr imprisonment, 4 years probation. Of that 1 year, you’d only serve 40% of it actually time so in the scenario I’m describing, about 5 months jail, 7 months parole, then 4 years probation. If violate probation, go back and serve the original sentence with no good time or suspension.
