Have any other military leaders in recent memory come out and spoken to the media in direct contradiction to what their current Commander in Chief says or does?

They are all politicians . Anything above colonel is promoted by act of Congress, so they are experts at kissing up, first to the Executive Branch and then to Congress. They are like any other long term bureaucrats, they hate their executive branch leaders, particularly an idiot like Trump.
