Absolutely fricking not.
That sets an absolutely orwellian precedent and it's not a path we want to walk down. If we can't self police as a society and see through the lies and bullshite then we get the society and government we deserve. This is our bed. We made it we have to lay in it. Never defer power to the government. Ever.
Think about it this way.
If the good, armed people of society had to stem these rioters and violence on their own, without government assistance, that would be no problem. But what if those rioters were the government themselves? Military and law enforcement with the backing of politicians? That would be a much tougher battle. Likely a war of attrition.
That sets an absolutely orwellian precedent and it's not a path we want to walk down.
