I personally don't think it is ugly. I don't like the crevices that could collect dust, but I don't mind the design.
The controller is my largest worry. It looks 'heftier' than the PS4 controller, which would be an improvement, but I wonder about how the buttons feel with them being so far recessed.

I'm not a fan of asymmetry. That combined with the two tone designed just makes it visually unappealing to me.
They wanted to go space age, futuristic. Which means shite like this
