I think the truth is obvious to anyone paying attention and setting aside their ideological wishing.
ANTIFA types are executing a playbook whereby they infiltrate heated protests, get people close to the edge, then ignite the spark. Throw the first brick, light the first fire, etc.
The locals then probably do most of the looting and car flipping. That isn't to say some of the more mundane criminality (throwing bottles, etc.) isn't coming from the "protestors" - I'm sure plenty of it is. But I don't think they're leading.
The video of the Antifa guy being turned over to police is interesting for a number of reasons. First, it shows an Antifa guy using the playbook exactly (using a hammer to break up concrete to start the glass breaking). Second, there is discussion his takedown was a police effort, and the evidence is pretty cool to scrutinize.
