Here's the deal: The wedding industry is probably one of the industries where customer service, good will, and word of mouth matter the most.

What SHOULD have happened here is the videographer should have gone out of his way to work with him and let him know that they can do a partial refund, and do more of a refund if they are able to rebook the date. A contract is a contract, but a little bit of goodwill goes a long way.

If that wasn't good enough for the groom, they could have explained their side of it in a logical way and hope that most people understand.

Have some compassion in a situation like this.

But the owner is a complete psychopath conman that has grifted in multiple states.

He's a world class piece of trash.
